STEP-BY-STEP, THIS IS HOW TO GET A JUST RUN PROGRAM "UP AND RUNNING!"
We are pleased that you will be implementing JUST RUN® and appreciate your desire to promote youth fitness. Your enthusiasm and commitment will ensure your success!

Keep in mind the goals of the JUST RUN program – an opportunity for children to learn about running and physical activity in a fun environment, one which encourages pride in accomplishment. There is a link between their lifetime health and being active & eating properly. It is their choice.

Become familiar with the many facets and features of JUST RUN. Explore JUST RUN Across the USA/Europe, Just Deeds, and Just Taste. Review the FORMS section on the website. This program was designed to be "turn-key." VIEW THE THREE INFORMATIONAL/TRAINING VIDEOS for an overview of the program, website, and activities.
Read, download, and sign the LIABILITY RELEASE FORM, which contains the TERMS AND CONDITIONS. Click HERE to get the form.
Download, complete and sign your VOLUNTEER APPLICATION. Click HERE to get the form.
FAX or MAIL the following to your program administrator:
a. THE COMPLETED VOLUNTEER APPLICATION
b. THE SIGNED LIABILITY RELEASE FORM

Your information and group(s) will be entered into our database. You will have a password to access your group. At this point you will be set to enter children's names, to record their mileage and Just Deeds, and to have FUN!
We suggest your youth running group for "JUST RUN Across the USA or Europe" have no more than 40 children. The accumulated mileage of groups with too many children may get them across the USA (or Europe) and back too quickly. If you have more than 40 children, separate them into groups based on grade level or class, for example.
Click on JUST RUN Across the USA/Europe
- Go to the Page for Administrators
- Select School/Group
- Enter password
- Click on "Show Admin Page"
- Go into the Change School/Group info to insure that everything is entered correctly. You will use the Admin Page to add/change children, add deeds earned, special deeds, and mileage for each child in the program.

A. GO TO www.justrun.org
B. ON THE LEFT SIDE MENU, CLICK "JUST RUN ACROSS THE USA OR EUROPE."
C. IN THE BLUE BOX SEARCH FOR YOUR SCHOOL OR GROUP AND
ENTER YOUR PASSWORD.
D. CLICK THE RED BOX THAT SAYS "ADD CHILD". THIS OPENS
THE SCREEN FOR ADDING CHILDREN.
E. PUT IN THE FIRST AND LAST NAME AND NICKNAME (NICKNAME IS
USUALLY THE FIRST NAME OF THE CHILD). IT WILL BE THEIR
PASSWORD AS WELL. NOTE THAT IF TWO KIDS HAVE THE SAME
FIRST NAME IN THE GROUP, ENTER SOMETHING DIFFERENT FOR
THE SECOND CHILD, LIKE MARY AND MARY2.
F. HIT "ADD" FOR THE FIRST CHILD YOU ENTER. CONTINUE
WITH THE NEXT CHILD BY CLICKING "NEW CHILD" IN THE UPPER
RIGHT CORNER. THIS DOES NOT TAKE LONG!
HOW TO RECORD MILEAGE FOR YOUR GROUP
A. CLICK ON JUST RUN ACROSS THE USA AND EUROPE
B. IN THE BLUE BOX, SCROLL TO FIND YOUR SCHOOL/GROUP
C. ENTER YOUR PASSWORD
D. CLICK ON SHOW ADMIN PAGE
E. CLICK ON ADD MILES RUN
F. ADD NEW MILES RUN – ONLY THE MILES RUN SINCE LAST ENTRY. HALF AND QUARTER MILES MAY BE ENTERED AS 1/2 OR 1/4, .5 OR .25
G. YOU MAY ADD ONLY ONE CHILD'S MILEAGE IF DESIRED OR MILEAGE FOR THE ENTIRE GROUP
H. AFTER ALL MILEAGE HAS BEEN UPDATED, CLICK ON “ADD NEW MILES” AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE
IF YOU ARE LOCATED IN MONTEREY COUNTY, you are entitled to free incentive awards for participating children in grades K - 8. A Mile Marker chart, bookmark, and plastic foot will be provided when they begin the program, followed by mileage tokens when they reach their goals of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 50, 75, and 100 miles. The children receive wristbands when they reach accumulated mileage of 25, 50, 75, and 100.
Certificates of CONGRATULATIONS are available on the website (forms section) for those accumulating 26 miles of running/walking and performing 26 "JUST DEEDS." In Monterey County shirt awards for those accumulating 50 miles of running/walking and doing 26 "JUST DEEDS," which are acts of good citizenship or good deeds, are provided as well.
The “Training and Running Tips for Leaders” section of the website provides a wealth of information for the successful implementation of your program, especially the sections on:

- Recording Mileage for Running Across the USA and Europe
- Typical Workout Session

Again, please read as much possible of the other sections of the JUST RUN website to become familiar with the entire program. Give each child/parent the www.justrun.org website so they may use it as a resource and as a reference. Explain the program and the Run Across the USA and Europe features. Thus, they will be able to track their group's progress, as well as their own, as they “travel across the USA or Europe.” They will be able to view the many interesting geographical, historical, nutritional, and fun sites along the way.
Find and measure your course(s) and pick times and days when your group will meet and participate.
Be sure to take advantage of the many FORMS found in this Leader/Teacher Quick Start Guide section. These include a JUST RUN Welcome and Instructions –Sample Letter, Just Deeds Form, Running Log, Fitness Drills, and Mile Marker signs, for example. If you would like to give each one of your participating runners a "JUST RUN Club Card" when they begin the program, click HERE to download and print. The cards can also be accesed in the Forms section of the website. The cards are best printed on heavy paper or card stock.
Keep the JUST RUN team informed of your incentive needs for individual programs in Monterey County, CA. Items will not be sent unless requested.
